Thanks for a Great Summer!

Well, the VFL 2011 Summer Reading Programs is in the books. We had a great one, we hope you did too.

We had 419 kids register for the program this year. We had 60 different programs over the six weeks with over 760 kids attending! We started the summer out with a rolicking program presented by musician Cathy McGrath and finished the summer with a fun-filled magic program featuring magician Jim Bush. In between we heard stories from around the world and traveled to different countries through crafts and games. We read to dogs and watched movies that took place all around the globe.

Altogether our summer readers logged in 270,141 minutes of reading, which translates into 4,502 hours of reading this summer. What a great job!

We want to especially thank our summer sponsors who made all this great fun possible, the Friends of the VFL, Mark's Pizzeria, Chili's Restaurant, the NYS Office of Children & Family Services in cooperation with the Ontario County Youth Board, and Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to the NYS Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Welcome to another summer of reading fun at the Victor Free Library!

We hope you'll join a reading club and sign up for some fun activities. All the details can be found here.

Sign-up for a Reading Club:

As we did last year, all of our summer reading "paperwork" will be done online this summer.

All of our summer readers will have their own online Summer Reading Home Page.

Here you will:

Keep track of the minutes you read.
Write reviews of some of your favorite books and share them with others.
Find out about upcoming events at the library.
Be notified when you have won a prize.

You can keep track of these things at home yourself or come to the library where we'll help you do the logging on one of our computers.

Registration for the Reading Clubs will begin on June 20th.

It's really easy. Decide on a User Name and Password, fill out the registration form, set your Reading Goal and start reading!

Register for some Activity Days:

Once you register come to the library and pick up your membership bag. Put your name on a suitcase to hang on the Children's Room wall and register for some of the Activity Days!
